Does a Blu Ray Reader/Writer for a home cinema system exist?

Question by : Does a Blu Ray Reader/Writer for a home cinema system exist?
A couple of years ago, I bought a LG HDD and DVD recorder so that I can record my favorite TV shows onto either the hard drive or directly onto a DVD. I want to upgrade to blu ray discs, because the quality is so much better. Does a Blu Ray equivalent exist out there today?

Vizio XVT3D650SV Review

The Vizio XVT3D650SV is a 65-inch theater 3D edge lit razor LED LCD HDTV with full HD 1080p resolution. A combination of edge lit razor LED backlighting with smart dimming technology,a 120 Hz refresh rate, 1080p full HD resolution, and an impressive dynamic contrast ratio enables this HDTV to render both 2D and 3D with brilliant clarity, color, and contrast.

Vizio’s theater 3D makes use of circular polarized 3D technology that delivers a superior 3D experience with several advantages over active 3D systems. It uses the same 3D movie standards of local theaters, which means that it is up to fifty percent brighter, has one half of the visual crosstalk distortion, handles fast action motion without blurring images, has a wider horizontal viewing angle, and eliminates all of the flickering of active shutter 3D.

What’s even better is that Vizio provides four pairs of lightweight theater 3D glasses upon purchase of the HDTV, thereby eliminating the need to buy expensive glasses after you’ve already invested in your 3D TV.

The glasses do not need batteries or recharging, and two of the four pairs are even specifically designed to be worn over prescription glasses. But if in case you need more than four pairs, then you may find comfort in knowing that VIzio’s 3D glasses are affordable enough to outfit the entire family.  Also, these glasses are perfect not only for watching movies, but also for 3D sporting and concert events.

This HDTV features WiFi technology that makes connecting to the internet quick and easy. In fact, the built in latest 802.11N dual band wireless networking and Vizio internet apps (VIA) allows users to easily connect to the internet, to stream movies and television shows, to listen to music, and to get the latest news, sports, and weather. The latest VIA platform also delivers a large array of web-based content directly to your living room, even without a personal computer or a set-top box. Users will be able to enjoy streaming video from Amazon video on demand, Netflix, and VUDU; social networking from famous sites such as Facebook and Twitter; and a variety of music from Rhapsody and Pandora.

Also, this television is complete with SRS audio technologies including SRS TruVolume which eliminates volume inconsistencies between programing and cuts the audio signal at high amplitude to boost it at low amplitude, and SRS TruSurround HD which delivers virtual high definition surround sound out of two 15-watt speakers.

Enjoy crystal clear and flicker free 3D with Vizio XVT3D650SV!

Optical audio connection to home theater receiver?

Question by newbie: Optical audio connection to home theater receiver?
My new Toshiba HDTV has an Optical Audio Out to carry the audio to my receiver. My older Sony home theater receiver has an Optical jack labeled “Video 2 In”. I’m assuming that I can connect these two to take get the surround sound from off-air HDTV broadcast signals that I’m receiving on the Toshiba using an antenna. Can anyone verify that for me?

Answer by Sett50
Yes, that should work…as long as the Video 2 in is in fact an optical jack. You would just need to set your receiver to the Video 2 setting in order to listen to the broadcast when you turn on your receiver. As far as surround sound, the broadcast that you’re getting from the off-air antenna needs to be broadcast in 5.1, 6.1 etc. and your receiver needs to also be capable of producing it. But overall, you should be good to go.

Answer by alex n
just because the projector is behind u dosnt mean the speakers are at the back, the image projected will be the same as a tv infront of u, im presuming u are doing this through an amp, just follow the amps setup and it will callibrate it for u i.e front left front right, surround left, surround right and finally subwoofer thats if your going for a 5.1 set if you get a 7.1 it will also set up the surround back speakers or speaker if 6.1, better amps wil include a setup mic.
as for whats best it all depends on budget and room size, if you let me know i can answer better xx

I was at a friends house a few weeks back and he had a Sanyo 1080p projector that was just awesome projecting an HD image and had excellant black levels even in his dimly lit house. Sorry I don’t know the model number but he told me it cost him around 1,800 for the projector and the model had a sliding door in front of the lens itself. Do a searh at Sanyo for a projector at around that price and you should find it.
